Football season has officially begun for us (honestly though, when isn’t football season for our squad?) and the boys have entered a whole new level of eating that I truthfully can not keep up with. I feel like even an intravenous of protein drip 24 hours a day, wouldn’t slow their appetites. This increase in hunger makes packing lunches next level tricky. Due to the limited amount of time they have to eat their snacks and mains, it’s crucial that everything be incredibly nutrient dense and high in protein. At home, nuts and energy bars are my go-to. Due to all the nut allergies at the school, those options are a no-go. So last season, I began to experiment with adding protein powder into various baked treats and raw balls and bars. It took some trial and error, but now have a good 3-5 recipes that are school friendly and loaded with nutrients. As the season moves forward, I will no doubt be making plenty more, and will be sure to share the recipes!

Drain and add to food processor.; Add all remaining ingredients, with the exception of the chocolate chips and coconut oil. Pulse in food processor until well incorporated (I pulsed mine 20-30 times).; On a parchment lined tray, form mix into small balls (about 1.5 – 2 tablespoons worth). ; Place balls into fridge to chill for 5-10 minutes. ; Melt chocolate and oil together in a double boiler (or microwave).; Remove balls from fridge and drizzle or dip in chocolate. ; Transfer to an airtight container and store in the fridge. ; –

*I used Vega chocolate protein (not the one mixed with greens). Any brown rice based chocolate protein powder would work here as well.
** I got my chocolate drizzle lookin’ all fancy using a piping bag.
